A proposed courtyard behind the Laurel Packinghouse may finally get built. Kelowna City Council will vote Monday on an amendment to the project budget. Until now, they were short money but the BC Gaming Commission has delivered a grant of more than 200 thousand dollars. When combined with money from the city and the Kelowna Museum Society, it's enough to have the courtyard built by next summer.
Linda Digby, the Society's Executive Director, says the space behind the building has been neglected for years. She is excited that the project may finally become real, another green space for familes, downtown residents, downtown workers and visitors to enjoy. Digby sees the courtyard as one more step to making Kelowna and even more people friendly place to be.
Given Council approval, the projected completion date is next June.
