Busy weekend of assaults and vandalism
The RCMP in Kelowna was kept busy over the weekend and responded to 49 calls for service between noon on Friday, March 22nd and March 25th in the downtown core alone.
The majority of these calls were in relation to property damage, causing a disturbance, suspicious persons, Trepass Act and found property.
Prompt reporting by citizens and business owners enabled the RCMP to identify and take into custody several persons in relation to ongoing criminality in the downtown core.
A 29-year-old male who was reportedly responsible for multiple acts of damage was located and arrested on outstanding warrants. The investigation into the damage to property is continuing.
A 26-year-old male was involved in five seperate incidents and was arrested for causing a disturbance and held in custody.
A 39-year-old male was arrested after a report of property damage. This male was held in custody and transported to court this date to face additional charges of assault on a peace officer, uttering threats and escape lawful custody.

On March 24th at 3:05 pm – Kelowna RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault on a Transit bus near Home Depot in West Kelowna. A passenger punched the driver in the face.
A 59-year-old West Kelowna man was arrested a short distance away – and now faces charges.
And on March 22nd, there was an altercation between the driver of a Transit bus and a passenger in Rutland, resulting in the bus crashing.
A passenger was arrested for assault, and charges are being forwarded for crown consideration.
