Rumours were floated a few months ago that Costco might move to West Kelowna.
After a rumour months ago that Costco would be moving to the west side, it's staying in Kelowna.
A story on the Daily Courier's website has it moving to a vacant lot behind the Superstore, not far from where it is now.
"We're really encouraged by Costco's decision to explore a development application in our city", said Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran.
It will take some time before a final decision is made on the move.
"It's just come through the door, so I don't know all the complexities of it", added Basran. "But I would say anywhere in the neighbourhood of three to six months before council will ultimately get to make a decision on the proposed location."
A possible move to land near the airport was a major issue during the last municipal election.
