They call it the gentleman’s game, but it was anything but at a West Kelowna golf course on Monday.
Officers were called in to handle the situation at Two Eagles Golf Course, which was captured on camera and has since gone viral online.
The footage shows two polo-clad men throwing fists and hurling profanity laden comments at each other.
Golf clubs are picked up and pointed, but never used, and the encounter escalates quickly.
Several bystanders attempt to intervene and break up the impromptu boxing match, but not before one man loses his shirt after the two square-up.
It’s unclear from the footage what triggered the Happy Gilmore-esque dispute.
However, comments from the Reddit account that posted the video to the r/Kelowna subreddit suggest one group was hitting balls at a slower group ahead of them.
West Kelowna RCMP were called to address the scuffle around 6:45 p.m. on April 14.
“All parties have been identified, and the incident is currently under investigation,” a statement from the detachment confirmed.
“We’ve viewed the cellphone video of the incident, and it’s nothing short of unacceptable behavior.”
There is no word yet on any charges or injuries to those involved.
