Penticton’s Fraser Rodgers named 2024-25 Jim Hughson Award winner

Penticton Vees play-by-play broadcaster Fraser Rodgers has been named the winner of the 2024-25 Jim Hughson Award for the BCHL Broadcaster of the Year.
Rodgers earned the recognition after a vote was conducted with the 21 league broadcasters.
“Being recognized by your peers makes this award special,” he said. “You look at the previous winners and it shows the rich history of the BCHL broadcast fraternity. To be grouped in with those names is humbling.”
Rodgers is currently in his 10th season working in the BCHL and his second stint with the Vees, having previously worked as the team’s broadcaster from 2011 to 2017, then returning in 2022 until present. Prior to his time in Penticton, he worked one season with the Powell River Kings.
“I want to thank my broadcast partners Matt Fraser and Tim Hogg for all they do, and the Vees organization for letting me put the headset on and tell their story,” he continued. “I want to thank everyone who I have worked with, including the previous winners. Broadcasting in the BCHL has been a privilege and I will cherish the many great memories and moments in the last 14 years.”
This is the second time Rodgers has won this award, the first time coming in the 2016-17 season.
