A downtown surveillance operation by Kelowna police resulted in a significant drug and cash seizure.
Kelowna RCMP said the Proactive Enforcement Unit was conducting surveillance on St. Paul Street on April 11, when they spotted a vehicle displaying suspicious activity consistent with drug trafficking.
Officers conducted a traffic stop, and a search of the vehicle found $8,600 in cash and suspected drugs.
The driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Mounties said investigators later obtained a search warrant for a home linked to the driver on Coronation Avenue. This led to a significant seizure of about three kilograms of cocaine, along with $14,000 in cash.
“The Kelowna RCMP detachment and its PEU is dedicated to the safety of the public and targeting the local drug traffickers,” said Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay in a media release. “Our teams will continue to hold those responsible who negatively impact our community.”
