Basement of home heavily damaged by fire on Hickory Road

At approximately 5:30am this morning (April 18, 2025) the Kelowna Fire Dept. Dispatch Centre received reports of a house on fire in the 1000 block of Hickory Road. The first arriving officer reported visible flames in the rear of the building, and smoke throughout the structure. The fire was extinguished with several hose lines and ventilated to remove smoke. The basement area of the home sustained significant damage. There were 5 adults at home at the time of the fire, and all were able to evacuate safely.

The fire is currently under investigation.

Several residents were treated for smoke inhalation, and 2 were transported to hospital by BCAS for further treatment and assessment.

The Kelowna Fire Dept. responded with 4 Engines, 1 Rescue unit, 1 Command unit, and 1 Safety Unit for a total of 22 personnel on scene. BCAS, RCMP, and Fortis Gas and Electric responded as well.
