Mike Smyth is a familiar voice to radio listeners in BC.
Currently the host of The Mike Show – heard 10am to noon weekdays on AM1150 – Mike has been a fixture in talk radio for more than 20 years and has hosted a wide variety of shows and timeslots on 980 CKNW in Vancouver for more than 15 years.
Mike came to radio while pursuing a long career in newspapers. He worked at small daily papers in Ontario and was a reporter at The Canadian Press, Canada’s national news agency, for 8 years. Mike was CP’s legislature correspondent in Victoria until 1996, the year he was hired as The Vancouver Province’s political columnist. Mike’s column ran in The Province for 24 years.
Mike is married to Mary Griffin, a reporter at CHEK TV in Victoria. They have two teenaged sons, Declan and Seamus, and a dog named Scout.
